Audrey Sica began her bellydance career in Pittsburgh, PA in 1993 under the instruction of Christine Andrews of Zafira Dance Company. Although she had no prior dance experience and never considered herself to be particularly coordinated or graceful, Audrey quickly took to the dance form and found herself constantly in front of the mirror striving to train her body the art of isolation. In Pittsburgh, Audrey was a co-founder and principal dancer of a middle eastern music and dance ensemble called "Ghawahzee." She performed with Ghawahzee for 6 years before relocating to Chicago in the fall of 2000. In 2001 Audrey was approached by other local dancers to form a tribal fusion dance troupe "Blue Lotus Tribe."
Audrey also began formal Classical Egyptian training in 2001 with Jasmin Jahal and began her solo dance career shortly thereafter. Although still performing as a member of Blue Lotus Tribe, Audrey is drawn to the improvisational self expression and connection she feels with the music as a solo performer. |
